Bio
Slig is a project of homemade music, born in Palermo in 2012, and taking his name from a character of a ’90 Play Station game.
All tracks are written and recorded by Francesco D’Angelo, except for a few.
The first album “Salamanderland”, taking his name from an austrian amphibians farm, was recorded by using:
- a fender cd60 acoustic guitar
- a shure sm58 mic
- an oxygen 25 keyboard
- a sitar
- an esraj
- an obsolete pc
- a tascam us 100 audio card
- a wooden toad and some other stuff found randomly in the house.
In 2013 and 2014 were recorded “The Great Ouncheif” and “Birdshooter”, with cameos by Eleonora Pillitteri, singing in Burning Down The Photographs, and my friend Pecio, playing harmonica in The Date.
In 2016 an Eko electric guitar breaks in for “The Human Grouper”, album with featurings by Marina Mazzamuto in Wrong Way and Valerio Mirone (from Utveggi) and Daniele Di Maggio in Dominique.
Slig’s music draws inspiration mostly from british ’90 pop music (like Oasis, Blur, The Verve, Radiohead, Suede, Kula Shaker), but also from other stuff, including indie rock, lo-fi, indian music, italian songwriters, and the folktronica of Tunng. It’s not about travelling and visiting fairy places. It’s not about having fun, or falling in love (except for some), and it’s not politically aligned or socially engaged. It’s more a passive observation of average persons’everyday life.
